I know I'm solidly late for March's "Meet the Maker" posts, but since I've never done one before, ever, I figured better late than never is a definite understatement in my case.
Since I was fortunate enough to have a visit from Bethany Anne Photography a couple of weeks ago, I now have some long-overdue updated bio photos. Plus a few working shots, which is also a first for me.

So, what to share about me? My bios always end up messy or oversimplified. But if you learn one thing about me as a maker/writer/artist, the TLDR it's that I've always searched for ways to operate as a multidisciplinary professional.
As a student, I was an artist at heart. But when it came to post-secondary choices, I went the practical route and earned a BA in English and Professional Writing. I became a communications specialist, freelance writer, and novelist.

In my late 20’s, I shifted from painting, drawing, and taking photos in my spare time to experimenting with cold-connection assemblage and steampunk jewelry. My hobby evolved and I took a couple of local courses, one for electroforming and one for silversmithing. I'm married to a journeyman metal fabricator and he helps with tools and questions from time to time.
In whatever I make or write, I'm generally giving myself room to be weird. The blue hair in these pics was always there on the inside. I like speculative fiction, alternative art, and anything that feels old, alien, or otherworldly.
I’m a one-woman show, an incurable introvert, and a mom of two.

So, that's me and my work in a nutshell. I'm always happy to answer questions about anything I make, including processes, techniques, materials, sources, and more. I hope I'll get in the groove of sharing more of that type of thing going forward. Who knows, I might even be brave enough to talk to my phone one day and get my face in a video. ;)
